Energy extraction systems for CERN

Since 2018, Sesto, in collaboration with the Department of Electrical Apparatus at the Lodz University of Technology, has established a fruitful partnership with the world's largest scientific institution—CERN.

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is where over 8,000 scientists from more than 500 research institutions conduct projects of immense significance for understanding the nature of the universe. Built within a toroidal underground tunnel approximately 27 km long, it is the largest machine in the world. Particles accelerated to incredible speeds and then collided are recorded and analyzed. The results of these experiments have broad applications across numerous industries, nuclear research, geology, and medicine, and are groundbreaking in advancing our understanding of interaction mechanisms.

We are a manufacturer and supplier of switching equipment that protects the superconducting coils of the LHC's electromagnets from the effects of transitioning out of superconductivity. Producing ultra-modern, high-quality, and reliable devices—critical to the success of the experiments—is a tremendous challenge for us but also a source of pride, as we represent the Polish contribution to this largest global research laboratory.
